The last few weeks have been busy at The Salt House. Lots of decisions and progress on the construction and furnishings. It has been exciting to see things coming together as we talk and email regularly with our builders, Guana Construction, and get new pictures from Reno Curling, whom we contracted to document the progress...the Sunday afternoon email from Reno is something we look forward to each week! And we are thrilled to have 3 bookings for the fall and winter already.
As for the progress, the exterior is coming along. We worked through the final architectural plans for the roof lines a few weeks ago and aligned on them just in time to stay on schedule...and they are looking so good. The revisions to the pool deck were finalized last week, including where the stairs down to the beach are going to be and have a draft of the landscaping plan in the works.
Inside, the kitchen is designed and all of the appliances, cabinetry, hardware, and countertops have been selected and ordered...it's going to be a dream to cook in. The large window over the sink looks out to the ocean and opens wide to make it easy to pass foods and drinks out to the outdoor dining and pool bar. Freshly caught lobster or specially ordered steaks from Exuma's butcher, Prime Island Meats, are going to taste so good while dining on the covered porch. The hardwood floors have been selected, as has all of the lighting and ceiling fans. The furniture and decorations have begun delivering from Restoration Hardware to the consolidator in South Florida and we are beginning to reach out to local artisans in Exuma for additional pieces.
It hasn't been easy...but it's been fun selecting and pulling it all together. Enjoy a few of the latest pictures and the furnishings plans for the great room, dining area, and kitchen.
